Tras no poder asistir a la presentación del nuevo disco de este fantástico cantante, la cual se celebró el pasado 15 de Octubre en Borgues, y a la que había el mismísimo Damián Ferrari me había invitado personalmente, he decidido postear y daros a conocer un poco más de él.
Damián Ferrari nació en Buenos Aires, Argentina, en el barrio de Belgrano. De pequeño se interesó por las artes en general, sobre todo por el cine y la música. Su padre, Dardo Ferrari, importante promotor de eventos en la década de los 80, trajo a la Argentina bandas como The Police, Joe Cocker, etc.
Es por eso, que Damián desde muy pequeño estuvo familiarizado con los backstage de músicos, actores y grandes bandas. Al terminar sus estudios secundarios, comenzó la carrera de producción y dirección de Cine, T.V y Radio en la universidad de Belgrano.
Es por eso, que la música debió esperar un poco. Esta misma, le despertaba tanto amor y pasión dentro de su ser, que decide abandonar el cine para dedicarse tiempo completo a su guitarra y a escribir sus canciones. Durante 6 años, estudió canto con profesores de renombre como Miguel Manzo (speech level singing) y en la academia de Sebastián Mellino, la más grande y completa de Latinoamérica.
A mediados del 2009, por intermedio de un amigo en común le llega una maqueta de Damián Ferrari al pianista y productor uruguayo radicado en Barcelona, José Reinoso, quien se entusiasma con las canciones y la interpretación de Damián y acuerda colaborar con él en la grabación de su primer álbum de diez canciones "ASUMO" .
Aquí os dejo una pequeña entrevista que he tenido oportunidad de hacerle:
*Aparte de la influencia que ejerció tu padre y su trabajo sobre la música, ¿Qué más hizo que tú finalmente decidieras dedicarte de manera exclusiva a este arte?
ES COMO UNA LLAMA QUE LLEVAS POR DENTRO, QUE DE A POCO FUE GANANDO TERRENO EN TODO MI CUERPO A TAL PUNTO QUE SE VOLVIÓ INEVITABLE.
*¿Recuerdas a qué edad escribiste tu primera letra?, ¿Qué temas trataba?
A LOS 15 AÑOS (risas), ERA UNA CANCIÓN DE PROTESTA QUE HABLABA DE LA MALDAD QUE PUEDE LLEGAR A TENER UN SER HUMANO. MUY PARADÓJICO CON RESPECTO A LO QUE ESCRIBO POR ESTOS DÍAS.
*¿Qué temas tocas en tu nuevo disco? ¿Basas tus letras en algo en especial?
ES UN DISCO DEDICADO AL AMOR, COMO SI FUERA EL YIN Y EL YANG. HABLA DE ESPERANZA PERO TAMBIÉN DE DUELO. A VECES ESTAMOS DE UN LADO A VECES DEL OTRO. A VECES ESTAMOS MAL, A VECES BIEN.. COMO LA VIDA MISMA.
*¿Por qué tu disco se titula “ASUMO”?, ¿Qué es lo que significa para ti esta palabra?
SI BIEN LA CANCIÓN “ASUMO” ENCIERRA UNA HISTORIA DE AMOR, LA PALABRA TIENE UN SIGNIFICADO MAYOR EN MI, POR EL HECHO DE HABER TOMADO MI SUEÑO EN VIDA CON RESPONSABILIDAD Y DEDICACIÓN, ASUMIENDO MIS LIMITACIONES PERO TAMBIÉN LAS COSAS
Y MENSAJES QUE TENGO PARA DAR.
*¿Tienes algún ritual antes de subirte a un escenario?
LLEVO UN ROSARIO QUE OBTUBE EN EL VATICANO. A VECES COLGADO, A VECES EN EL BOLSILLO. NO CREO EN LOS RITUALES SÍ EN LA FE.
*¿Qué es lo que más te gusta de tu trabajo?
EL PROCESO DE CREACIÓN DE UNA CANCIÓN Y EL MOMENTO DE ESTAR EN EL ESCENARIO CANTADO CON MI PÚBLICO.
*Personalmente “Me enamoré” es una de mis canciones favoritas, ¿Qué cuentas a los lectores de Where is my tie? ¿Acerca de ella?
ME ENAMORÉ ES UNA HISTORIA DE UN MOMENTO, DE UN FIN DE SEMANA, UN AMOR FUGAZ, A PRIMERA VISTA PORQUE LA CHICA SE VA A OTRO PAÍS PARA SIEMPRE. PERO MÁS ALLÁ DE ESTO, ENAMORARSE POR SUERTE RESULTA INEVITABLE.
*En relación a la moda, ¿tienes alguna manera especial de vestir?, ¿Cuál es tu marca favorita?
ME GUSTA VESTIR SENCILLO PERO SIEMPRE CON ALGUNA DISTINCIÓN. EN CUANTO MARCAS, ME GUSTA MUCHO LEVIS, G-STAR RAW Y LOS JEANS DE DIESEL.
*¿Consideras que la moda y la forma de vestir es importante en un artista? ¿Por qué?
CONSIDERO QUE SÍ, AUNQUE NO ES LO MÁS IMPORTANTE, PARA MÍ ES UN RECURSO MÁS QUE ME ACERCA AL CONCEPTO DE LO QUE UNO QUIERE TRANSMITIR AL PUBLICO.
After failing to attend to the new album´s presentation of this fantastic singer, which took place last 15th October in Borges and where I was invited directly by Damián Ferrari, the star, I decided to post about him in order to let you know a little more of him.
Damian Ferrari was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in Belgrano neighborhood. When he was a child, he was interested about art in general, especially cinema and music. His father, Dardo Ferrari, a important events promoter in the 80's, brought to Argentina bands like The Police, Joe Cocker, etc.
That is why Damián since very young was around musicians, actors and big bands. After finishing his high school career, he began Production and direction Film, TV and Radio at the University of Belgrano. That is the reason why the music had to wait a bit. Music was for him so important that wakes up love and passion inside him, that he decided to leave the cinema to devote full time to his guitar and writing
their songs. For 6 years he studied singing with reknowned teachers like Michael Manzo (Speech level singing) and SebastianMellinoAcademy, the largest and most comprehensive in Latin America.
In mid-2009, through a mutual friend, José Reinoso, an Uruguayan pianist and producer based in Barcelona, received a model of Damian Ferrari who was
excited about the songs and the interpretation of Damián and agreed to cooperate with him in the recording of his first album "Assumed".
Here you have a short interview I had the opportunity to get:
* Apart from the influence of your father and his work on music, what else did you need to decide finally to dedicate exclusively to this art?IT IS LIKE A FLAME YOU BRING INSIDE, AND IT WAS A LITTLE BY LITTLE GAINING GROUND IN ALL MY BODY TO THIS POINT THAT BECAME UNAVOIDABLE.
* Do you remember how old you wrote your first letter? What issues involved?
* What topics we can hear on your new album? Are your lyrics based into something special?It is an album dedicated to love, like yin and yang. speaking of hope
but also of mourning. Sometimes we are in one side of the life of in the other. Sometimes we are bad, sometimes well like life itself.
* Why is your album called "Assumed", What does it mean for you this word?
while the song "assume" circle a love story, the word has a bigger meaning for me, because i have taken my dream in real life with
liability and dedication, but also with limitations and messages that I have to give.
* Do you have any rituals before getting on stage?I carry a rosary from the vatican. hanged sometimes, sometimes in
pocket. I do not believe in rituals but I do in faith.
* What is the most lovely moment at your job?.The process of writing a song and spending time on the stage with my public. * For me, "I fell in love" is one of my favorite songs, Some comments for Where Is my tie readers about it? I fall in love is a story based on a moment of a weekend, a fleeting love, at first sight because the girl is going to another country forever. but beyond this, falling in love by chance is unavodiable.
* In relation to fashion, do you have any special way of dressing?, What is your favorite brand ?I love wearing simple clothes but with some different at the same time related to brands, I love LEVIS, G-STAR RAW AND DIESEL jeans.
* Do you think fashion and way to dress is important in an artist? Why?I think yes because I think it is another resource in order to reach all the public.
